Merced County Conviction Review Unit
Description
The Conviction Review Unit is a subdivision of the Merced County District Attorney's office that investigates claims of innocence. The purpose of the office is to ensure that justice is evident in all cases handled by the Merced County District Attorney, and to revisit those cases where credible evidence to the contrary exists. Staff are tasked with investigating claims of innocence involving convictions for violent crime, or for convictions which resulted in a lengthy sentence or other significant collateral consequences. Individuals or attorneys should submit a claim of innocence review request through the mail or by using the online form on the Conviction Review Unit website. Merced County Conviction Review Unit will not consider cases which did result in conviction, or cases that do not involve felony conviction.
