The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is a municipal transit agency that provides public transportation services to the city of Chicago and some of its surrounding suburbs. The CTA operates a network of buses and elevated/subway trains that serve more than 1.5 million riders on an average weekday. The system covers over 1,000 route miles and includes more than 140 bus routes and eight train lines.
