Delaware Specialty Courts

Description

Delaware Specialty Courts facilitate several court-ordered programs that assist justice-involved individuals with unique needs. These programs are designed to support individuals through mandatory treatment programs and to provide evidence-based guidance that centers the specific experiences of each individual. The DUI Treatment Court Program works with individuals involved with their first DUI charge who have not caused injury or harm to others during the crime and who agree to plead guilty. Participants complete community service and commit to random drug/alcohol tests for the first 30 days and agree to electronic monitoring for the following 90 days. The Drug Diversion Program for Non-Violent Offenders offers an alternative to incarceration for qualifying individuals charged with non-violent drug crimes. Mental Health Court works with individuals whose mental health status and access to treatment may impact their behaviors. The Trauma Informed Probation Program serves formerly incarcerated women through guidance informed by the underlying factors that often precede crime, such as domestic abuse and sexual violence.
