Disability Rights of West Virginia

Disability Rights of West Virginia is a federally mandated nonprofit organization that provides support and advocacy for individuals with disabilities. All services offered by Disability Rights of West Virginia are provided to individuals at no cost, and all individuals receive guaranteed confidentiality. The primary function of the organization is to ensure that individuals with disabilities have equal access to employment, housing and educational opportunities. They support individuals who have experienced discrimination or a violation of constitutional rights by offering information about rights, investigating claims of discrimination or abuse, advocating for disability rights and providing legal representation. All individuals begin with an intake interview to determine the type of services required, such as referral services or direct advocacy through representation. Disability Rights of West Virginia also actively engages in systemic advocacy to address ongoing issues that impeded disability rights and community advocacy to increase awareness about disability rights throughout the West Virginia community.
