Goodwill of Southern New England – Reentry Initiative
Description
The Goodwill Reentry Initiative is sponsored by Goodwill of Southern New England to assist individuals who are exiting the corrections system. The program is non-residential, so individuals must obtain stable housing outside the program. However, participants of Reentry Initiative do receive individualized case management, as well as ongoing support for job development and placement. Participation in the program requires a referral by the Department of Corrections, a probation officer or a community organization in partnership with Goodwill of Southern New England. Services include reunification with loved ones after release, access to basic necessities, transportation assistance and peer mentorship. Staff guide individuals through the process of obtaining government documents, enrolling in benefits programs, accessing educational opportunities and entering treatment programs for chemical dependence. Reentry Initiative is also able to offer referrals for individuals experiencing mental health crisis to assist with a safe and permanent treatment plan on a path toward independent living.
