Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law – Wrongful Conviction Clinic

Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law – Wrongful Conviction Clinic

Description

The Wrongful Conviction Clinic is housed in the Indiana University Robert J. McKinney School of Law and offers representation services. Students in the law program review requests for representation and offer litigation services to incarcerated individuals who maintain their innocence. Clients receive quality legal advice, research and representation at no cost while students gain the experience they need to enter the legal field as professionals. The program believes that it is important for students to confront the reality that some confessions are coerced or false, and some convictions are the result of misidentification by eye witnesses. Law students who are committed to providing strong work ethic and representation for their clients are invited to apply for participation in the clinic. Graduates of the clinic are better equipped to serve clients in legal matters, and to assist individuals who may be serving time as a result of faulty science or false confession. For more information about the program, individuals should contact the director of the clinic, Fran Watson, using the information provided on the website.
