Just Income GNV

Description

Just Income GNV is a project supported by the nonprofit Community Spring, and its focus is on ending structural poverty and promoting authentic economic mobility. They pursue this work through two pillars, which they believe are essential to solid structural change: income and power. Just Income GNV offers fellowships to individuals who have experience with poverty to help drive solutions to the systemic issues they identify as contributing factors to low-income circumstances in their respective communities. They also work to include fellows directly impacted by the justice system with the understanding that poverty and incarceration are innately linked in the American justice system. The program selects 115 individuals impacted by the justice system who will receive $1000 during the first month of the program and $600 per month for the remaining 11 months of the year. These funds are not earmarked, so individuals may use them for whatever they deem necessary. Eligible individuals must have been released from a Florida state prison or federal prison after June 1, 2021, been released from a Florida county jail with a new felony conviction, or started felony probation in Alachua County on or after June 1, 2021.
