Legal Aid and Defender Association, Inc.

Legal Aid and Defender Association is a nonprofit collaborative of attorneys committed to providing legal support to individuals in need. Their mission is to offer comprehensive, innovative legal support that enhances the quality of life and uplifts vulnerable populations and underserved individuals, families and communities. Legal Aid and Defender Association delivers civil legal services to residents of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties who may otherwise not have the funds for legal defense. It is the oldest provider of pro bono civil legal service to residents of Michigan who live in poverty. Staff and volunteers are passionate about protecting the rights of low income individuals and helping with numerous civil matters through a combination of advocacy and representation. For example, attorneys assist residents remain in their homes through eviction diversion programs, fight for eligible government benefits for those in need, and service to enhance the health and wellness of low income families by addressing the root causes of poor health.
