Legal Services for the Elderly
Description
Legal Services for the Elderly has offered legal advice and counsel for qualifying individuals for nearly fifty years. The office has grown to service residents in the greater Augusta, Bangor, Lewiston, Presque Isle and Scarborough communities. Staff and volunteers offer legal advice at no charge to individuals over the age of 60. They are best equipped to provide advice regarding health care issues, medical insurance, government benefits programs, retirement questions, powers of attorney and guardianship issues. As a nonprofit organization, Legal Services for the Elderly derives its funding from state and national partners committed to equitable justice for individuals over 60 years old. Most clients receive advice and services through the Legal Services for the Elderly HelpLine, a toll free number provided on the organization website. Occasionally, individuals are unable to resolve issues using the HelpLine and are referred to the Legal Services for the Elderly office for more thorough support.
