Legal Services NYC

Description

Legal Services NYC has served impoverished individuals in the greater New York City area through legal support for more than fifty years. The organization was founded to combat the effects of poverty on underserved communities. While Legal Services NYC began as a loose partnership of community leaders and organizations, they now have more than 500 on staff, allowing them to assist tens of thousands of low-income individuals and families every year. The organization provides representation, legal counsel and advice for individuals who are facing issues related to poverty. Those who are facing eviction, require assistance obtaining temporary or emergency shelter, or need help enrolling in government benefit programs may find the support they need through Legal Services NYC. Staff are also equipped to assist individuals working to access public insurance programs, disability benefits, unemployment benefits and those experiencing discrimination due to certain demographic factors. Those who require services are encouraged to use the contact information provided on the website.
