Mercy Learning Center is a nonprofit organization that offers free education services to low income women in the Bridgeport, Connecticut area. The mission of this compassionate and supportive agency is to empower women to change their lives through basic literacy and life skills training. Mercy Learning Center offers education opportunities for reading, writing and speaking, math, social studies, science and health, employment studies, and computer skills. Alongside education opportunities, students are also provided with additional support services that include, but are not limited to, personalized case management, health screenings, mental health services, financial counseling, enrichment courses, career and college mentorship, child care assistance, and much more. Ultimately, participants are able to earn a GED, prepare for the US citizenship exam, learn job skills, and receive assistance applying for college, scholarships, job training programs and finding employment.
