Real Talk

Real Talk

Description

Real Talk is a community based program dedicated to redirecting young people who are at risk of entering the criminal justice system. Their mission is to connect youth with positive role models, facilitate family reunification and counseling, and activities that encourage positive growth. Staff and volunteers hope that this broad approach to support and guidance will help participants make permanent behavioral changes and work toward a crime free future. Real Talk has shown strong progress toward reducing recidivism rates for youth, thereby lowering incarceration rates overall and helping to disrupt the cycle of generational incarceration. To date, the organization has successfully impacted more than 2,000 youth, and their events promise to continue making a strong impact in the future. One of their signature programs is Change One Meetings, a workshop series that meets once a month to discuss self improvement. Attendees graduate after completing three workshops, including one Career Prep workshop.
