Resurrection After Exoneration
Description
Resurrection After Exoneration (RAE) is a New Orleans nonprofit helping innocent men reclaim their lives after being released from prison and death row. RAE provides a holistic approach to re-entry by promoting and sustaining a network of support among the formerly incarcerated, reconnecting to the community and obtaining education and counseling to make positive changes in life, and creating a collective voice to demand reform in the criminal justice system. Resurrection After Exoneration currently offers transitional housing to Louisiana and Mississippi's exonerees with the hopes of expanding to a national program. In addition, RAE offers direct service programs to exonerees, such as literacy and computer classes, counseling, financial planning, job training, and legal support. RAE also positions exonerees as advocates for change, with a stage production entitled 'Voices of Innocence' and several mentorship programs with at-risk youth and the formerly incarcerated.
