The council covers the area of the South Central Kentucky region, which is made up of Logan, Simpson, Butler, Warren, Edmonson, Hart, Barren, Allen, Metcalfe, and Monroe counties. They have put together programs to help the prisoners who have nothing after being released. One of the initiatives they currently have in place is the backpack program. The backpacks include over ten toiletries items such as razors, shaving cream, hygiene products, soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, all donated items for incarcerated people exiting jails. As part of their other programs, the council purchases IDs & Birth Certificates for incarcerated people prior to the release date, sponsor pre-release classes at county jails, sponsor Moral Recognition Therapy, anger-management and parenting classes/books and purchases reading glasses for all South Central Kentucky regional jails, sponsor Expungement Sessions in all South Central Kentucky counties, sponsor the Work Release Jobs Program in Warren County Jail, provides voucher for clothes, transportation passes, housing assistance and many other opportunities for the justice-impacted population.
