Success Stories Program
Description
Success Stories is a community based organization that believes strongly in the power of alternatives to incarceration. Their mission is to reduce violent crime in the community by working directly with justice involved individuals who have a history of violence. Staff and volunteers use a curriculum informed by feminist praxis and designed to reduce recidivism, providing justice involved individuals with restorative methods and rehabilitation. Success Stories has a goal of dismantling patriarchal structures and abolishing the prison industrial complex. The organization runs a 13-week program inside correctional facilities across California, with a focus on incarcerated men ages 18 - 35, as their research indicates that this demographic is at the highest risk of recidivism. In addition to the workshops offered for incarcerated men, Success Stories now offers its 13-week workshop outside correctional facilities, and they have developed a virtual workshop series for those who cannot attend a workshop in person conveniently.
