The Marshall Project

The Marshall Project is a nonprofit news outlet with a focus on nonpartisan coverage of the United States criminal justice system. Their mission is to communicate the immediate need for sweeping justice reform and ensure that news around injustice is accessible. They believe that journalism is an effective and vital catalyst for meaningful reform, policy initiative and legislative action. The Marshall Project prepares quarterly impact reports to track the measurable effect that their work has on the communities they serve, and to remains transparent in their actions. Several of their projects empower incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals to share their experiences with a large audience. The Life Inside project is a weekly series which publishes first-person narrative accounts from those who live or work inside correctional facilities, or elsewhere in the criminal justice system. Through this series, readers have access to first-hand accounts of what life is life for justice-impacted individuals on a daily basis.
