The Resources to Empower and Develop You Center is housed by the Washington DC Department of Corrections to serve justice involved individuals. The center is a consolidated location where formerly incarcerated individuals in the greater DC area can go to access services related to reentry. These services includes programs facilitated by Community Based Organizations, the Department of Corrections, the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Department of Employment Services, the Department of Human Services, the Department of Behavioral Health, and the Mayor's Office. By housing programs from all of these community partners, the Resources to Empower and Develop You Center helps to ensure that all individuals receive the support they need to successfully return to the community after incarceration. Most participants begin interacting with the center prior to release, as staff connect individuals with the resources they will require upon release. This preemptive strategy is an effective means to reduce recidivism in the community.
