Utah County Conviction Integrity Unit
Description
The Utah County Conviction Integrity Unit is a subdivision of the Utah County District Attorney's office that looks into claims of innocence. Though housed within the District Attorney's office, the Conviction Integrity Unit is committed to offering a complete and unbiased investigation into all credible claims of innocence. Credible claims of innocence are those that include substantial proof of innocence as established by novel evidence not previously presented as part of the case. These claims may also illustrate how new technologies allow for more comprehensive testing of existing evidence. The Conviction Integrity Unit only considers claims of innocence related to currently incarcerated individuals who are in prison as a result of conviction through the Utah County Superior Court. They cannot consider cases for individuals who have been released from prison or those who are currently appealing their conviction in the Appellate Court. For more information, individuals or their attorneys can contact the unit directly.
