ACLU Louisiana

The American Civil Liberties Union is one of the largest advocacy groups in the country committed to social justice for all individuals. ACLU Louisiana works directly with policymakers to ensure equitable treatment and constitutional rights for the people of Louisiana. Their Smart Justice campaign was developed to address mass incarceration in Louisiana correctional facilities and address racism in the criminal justice system. They believe that the high incarceration rates of people of color in Louisiana destabilize whole communities. ACLU Louisiana's Justice Lab bridges legislation and narrative to change perspectives about police violence in Louisiana. They are also actively involved in a number of cases to defend the rights of individuals in the Louisiana criminal justice system. ACLU Louisiana works with individuals to determine when their rights have been violated and what legal recourse they might have. Individuals may contact ACLU Louisiana directly to discuss a specific issue or to request assistance.
