The American Civil Liberties Union is one of the largest advocacy organizations focused on criminal justice reform and constitutional rights. The New York ACLU chapter is a leader in the defense of civil liberties and civil rights. They are a nonprofit organization that works directly with community organizers, policy makers and legislators to ensure equitable justice for all individuals. Their mission is to protect equal access and ability to participate in local government decisions and policy implementation. The New York ACLU is currently working to end Jim Crow education policies, transform the New York police department, develop a database of disciplinary complaints within police departments statewide and protecting New Yorkers through the pandemic.
