The American Civil Liberties Union is one of the largest social justice advocacy groups serving the United States and its territories. ACLU Puerto Rico is a branch of the national organization that focuses exclusively on the needs and rights of Puerto Ricans. Their mission is to guarantee that all individuals receive the rights afforded to them by the constitution, and to serve those whose rights have been denied. ACLU Puerto Rico is engaged in advocacy, legislation and policy work regarding the death penalty, HIV/AIDS treatment and racial justice. They are also working to ensure equal rights for people with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community and women. Individuals who feel their rights have been violated can contact ACLU Puerto Rico directly to discuss potential support and representation in their fight to protect their rights.
