Alameda County Clean Slate Programs

Alameda County Clean Slate Programs are operated by the Alameda County corrections system to assist justice involved individuals. These programs are designed to help qualifying individuals clear their criminal history by filing petitions pro per or through a defense attorney. Some pro bono and public defense offices offer assistance to qualifying individuals at little to no cost. Individuals may also request changes to probation and sentencing based on eligibility. Reasons for petition include: early termination of probation; withdrawal of plea and dismissal; factual finding of innocence and sealing of records; reduction of certain drug charges from felony to misdemeanor; reduction of marijuana related charges from felony to misdemeanor. Petitions must make use of official forms and be filed through the Superior Court Clerk's office in order to review consideration. Individuals must also serve the District Attorney with a copy of all filings once petitions are processed.
