Alliance for Higher Education in Prison is a collaborative organization dedicated to improving access to higher education for incarcerated individuals. The organization believes that all individuals have a fundamental right to higher education, including those inside correctional facilities and those living in the community with criminal convictions. Alliance for Higher Education in Prison works hard to provide access to higher education for incarcerated individuals at no cost. Staff and educators believe that this is fundamental to reducing incarceration rates and disrupting the cycle of recidivism for justice involved individuals. Their hope is to help work toward an America that no longer utilizes the prison industrial complex and that does not house millions of Americans behind bars.
