Disability Rights Rhode Island

Disability Rights Rhode Island is a federally mandated nonprofit organization that offers advocacy and services for individuals with disabilities. Their mission is to ensure that all residents of Rhode Island have equal access to the workforce, housing opportunities and educational programming. Staff and volunteers are committed to assisting individuals with disabilities, including support when civil or human rights violations occur. Disability Rights of Rhode Island is part of a nationwide network dedicated to protecting the rights of individuals with disabilities across the country. Select services include information and referrals to community programs, advocacy for individuals and legal representation for individuals whose rights have been violated. The organization also operates several programs. The Protection and Advocacy program focuses on community advocacy, influence with policy makers and legal representation. Their federally funded advocacy programs include advocacy for individuals with cognitive disabilities, individuals with developmental disabilities and assistive technology assistance.
