Education Justice Project

The Education Justice Project is a community based organization dedicated to social justice equity for all community members. The program is housed in and supported by he College of Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. This program provides a holistic model that offers incarcerated individuals important access to college level teaching and higher education degree programs. For more than fifteen years, participants have taken part in for-credit courses and extracurricular programming while incarcerated at Danville Correctional Center. The Education Justice Project also publishes limited reentry guides, identifies and curates a database of resources, and hosts community gatherings focused on social inequity issues. The project also has limited funds to offer scholarships that assist formerly incarcerated individuals who pursue higher education pathways after serving their time. For more information about specific services or to engage with the organization, individuals are encouraged to community them directly by phone or through the information provided on the website.
