Family in Distress is a community based organization committed to assisting justice involved individuals reach financial independence and stability. Their mission is to equip and transform justice involved individuals and vulnerable populations with programs, tools, and opportunities to start new lives through entrepreneurship. Staff and volunteers believe strongly in the power of self-sufficiency and independence to break the cycle of recidivism that often plagues justice involved individuals. Currently, Family in Distress offers face to face classes for youth and adults that target underlying factors that contribute to homelessness, substance abuse and reincarceration. Their reentry program will offer new perspectives on the Second Chance Act and how to support individuals after incarceration.
