Federal Public Defender for the Western District of Missouri's Kansas City office is the Western District's main office. With one federal defender and 13 assistant federal defenders on staff, the Kansas City Office operates under the authority of the Criminal Justice Act. This allows them to work as the point of contact between panel members and other components of the judicial branch. They provide defense services to individuals who are financially unable to obtain adequate representation in federal criminal cases.
