Forsyth Jail & Prison Ministries

Forsyth Jail & Prison Ministries is a prison ministry. They use Christ’s love and forgiveness to transform lives and break the cycle of crime and punishment. Their aim is to help imprisoned men and women find Jesus Christ through study, through counseling, through worship and through actions. The ministry offers a variety of programs, including Bible Studies, Worship Services, Mentoring, Literacy, Music, and more. Mentors provide the guidance and friendship that is crucial to forming positive, constructive lifestyles on the outside. Yokefellows is an inter-denominational, personal ministry that permits incarcerated people to seek one-on-one spiritual guidance, fellowship and friendship from outside volunteers. Their literacy program assesses the academic level of the inmate and matches him with a tutor in the areas of reading, writing and math. Their Potter’s Hand is a creative arts program for incarcerated people and volunteers. This program uses clay and biblical themes for incarcerated people to explore what it means to be created in the image of God. They teach incarcerated people to create beautiful Cross pendants that are a symbolic reminder of Christ’s love. They have also formed a choir of incarcerated people under the supervision of the ministry to sing at churches and community events.
