Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida Conviction Integrity Review

The Conviction Integrity Review division is a part of the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida District Attorney's office that looks into reliable claims of innocence. The mission of the Conviction Integrity Review office is to act in tandem with the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida District Attorney's office solely as an investigatory branch. They help to confirm the reliability of claims of injustice by partaking in a thorough investigation for all cases wherein convicted persons provide substantial evidence to support their claims of innocence, present verifiable proof that they were wrongfully convicted or otherwise substantiate their claims of injustice during their involvement with the justice system. Staff in the office look into the credibility behind filed claims and decide whether or not plea bargaining significantly affected the outcome of the case. They organize their work load based on the evidence provided and the percentage of a sentence incarcerated individuals have already served. Those claims of innocence that are supported by credible evidence result in a formal recommendation that the District Attorney reopen the case and determine whether or not evidence of injustice warrants further action.
