The Georgia Coalition for Higher Education is a network of college and university programs dedicated to serving justice involved individuals before and after release. All partners within the coalition believe that access to education is a human right guaranteed by the state. The Georgia State University Prison Education Project (GSUPEP) strives to introduce higher education into prisons, to foster education for those who have been in prison, and to educate on-campus students about the underlying issues of mass incarceration. The Chillon Project is an initiative of Life University's Center for Compassion, Integrity, and Secular Ethics to offer Associate and Bachelor degree programs to individuals in prison, formerly incarcerated individuals, and correctional staff in Georgia. The AYCGL Prison Education Initiative offers assistance to Morehouse College faculty who bring humanities courses to incarcerated men and women in Georgia prisons.
