Illinois Humanities

Illinois Humanities is part of a national network of nonprofit organizations that further the humanities through community programming. Their mission is to strengthen the Illinois community through social, political and economic programming and fostering constructive conversation that encourages community engagement. Illinois Humanities endeavors to facilitate dialogue across all sectors of society to investigate issues vital to a fair and just democracy. They pursue these goals through a combination of public programs, grant funding and educational services designed to center and support underserved communities, including people of color and low-income communities. Their grant programs assist community activists with ideas to revitalize and improve the community, while public policy programs work to educate advocates on the best route for legislative action and intervention. Other art and education programs invigorate community activists by supporting projects and work directly related to celebrating and spreading information related to underserved communities in the greater Chicago area.
