In Her Shoes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting women at risk for chemical dependence or incarceration issues. Their mission is to empower women to reenter their communities after experiencing crisis or incarceration. Staff and volunteers provide essential training, job development services, recovery support and educational opportunities. In Her Shoes believes that a comprehensive approach to healing is essential to successful and permanent reintegration into the community. They offer support from a place of compassion and understanding to ensure that women feel both safe and welcome receiving assistance from the organization. In Her Shoes is also currently working to open Her Place, a residential housing space that offers aftercare to individuals in Kent and Sussex Counties in Delaware. Their goal is to open the space to residents by Spring of 2022, and to provide continue services through faith-based counseling and group sessions. The housing center would offer women a safe place to live at minimal cost while also providing the much-needed emotional support to succeed in the community.
