Inmate Programs Unit, Denver Sheriff Department

The Denver Sheriff Department maintains the Inmate Programs Unit to serve currently incarcerated individuals. These programs are available to individuals housed at the Downtown Detention Center and the Denver County Jail. Participants in the programs available through these correctional facilities receive support and guidance designed to help them build character and prepare for life on the outside. Individuals receive self-study journals, available in English and Spanish, which assist with reflection and conflict management, as well as chemical dependence and mental health issues. Additionally, individuals have access to faith based counseling and mental health treatment, as well as targeted services for those returning to the community and educational programming around obtaining a high school equivalency degree. Reentry services include individual case management, workshops centered on barriers to successful reintegration, and information about local organizations that support formerly incarcerated individuals. For more information, contact the organization directly using the information on this page.
