John Howard Association

The John Howard Association is an organization dedicated to accountability and advocacy across the justice system and inside prisons. They have monitored practices and informed policies for more than one hundred years. Their mission is to provide ongoing oversight to the treatment of incarcerated individuals, including the monitoring of facilities and the review of establishing policies and practices. John Howard Association is on the ground floor of criminal justice reform and continues to collaborate with community leaders, policy makers and the court system to advocate for more equitable sentencing and more humane treatment inside correctional facilities. The organization believes that monitoring facilities is the most important aspect of their work. Staff and volunteers visit at least twenty correctional sites every year and provide in-depth evaluations regarding the treatment of incarcerated individuals, access to loved ones and available programming to rehabilitate incarcerated individuals. For more information about their work or impact, visit the organizational website or contact John Howard Association directly.
