Section Title

Keiki O ka Aina

Keiki O ka Aina is a network of family learning centers to provide support for children with one or more incarcerated parents. Their Strengthening Families Affected by Incarceration program was developed to serve young people with a parent or loved one in prison, as well as family members who are caring for children with an incarcerated parent. The program centers mentorship, parent coaching and courses designed to promote strong bonds between children and their parents. Their hope is that this programming will help intervene before children enter the justice system themselves. Keiki O ka Aina centers Hawaiian culture and language, key literacy skills, outdoor activities and parent-guided activities that offer an opportunity for parents to reinforce their role in their children's lives. Individuals who are interested in entering the program can use the application provided on the organization website. Individuals can also use the contact form on the website to request more information.
