Kentucky Public Defender’s Columbia Trial Office

The Kentucky Public Defender's Columbia Trial Office is a local office in the Southern region of Kentucky working for the Department of Public Advocacy (DPA). With one Directing Attorney, a team of Public Defenders and support staff, the Columbia office serves indigent people in Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Taylor, and Washington counties. They provide representation to indigent clients in adult criminal, juvenile, contempt, and involuntary commitment cases. The mission of the Kentucky Public Defender's Office is to provide high-quality, client-centered legal representation to indigent persons of all ages, accused of crimes or facing a deprivation of liberty throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Department of Public Advocacy (DPA) is dedicated to equal and fair treatment both in the legal system and in its own workplace. In addition to guiding the direction of all agency action, the Public Advocate's office manages legal compliance, policy structure, legislative advocacy, education, training, and strategic planning.
