Lighthouse Prison Ministries is a Texas-based non-profit organization founded by formerly incarcerated Chaplain Downs. Downs conceived of Lighthouse Prison Ministries to serve incarcerated people in the very prison where he was housed. Their mission is use faith-based teachings to permanently transform individuals and help them develop positive mindsets that will guide them toward a more productive life. Through ministry inside prisons, they reinforce the power of faith in rehabilitation and reintegration into society. They further charge participants with discipleship upon release, encouraging them to engage their communities with the gospel. Though Chaplain Downs passed away, others continue Lighthouse Prison Ministries in his legacy.
