Louisiana DPS&C Reentry Initiatives & Transitional Work Programs

The Louisiana DPS&C Reentry Initiatives and Transitional Work Programs is tasked with decreasing recidivism through targeted support. Their mission is to assess all incarcerated individuals and those on community supervision to determine which support programs offer the best chance at disrupting the cycle of incarceration. They develop programs to serve individuals at all stages in the justice system, from incarceration to probation and parole. Some programs are available to justice involved individuals who are no longer under court supervision, such as the Return for Good program, which helps individuals build job skills and become self-sufficient. Programs for currently incarcerated individuals focus on work release and vocational programs that help individuals enter the workforce quickly after release. The goal of Louisiana DPS&C Reentry Initiatives and Transitional Work Programs is to help disrupt the cycle of recidivism by preparing individuals for successful reentry into the community no matter where they are in serving their sentences.
