Mount Tamalpais College provides free education programs to individuals currently incarcerated at San Quentin State Prison. Since 1996, they have fostered values or engagement, independence, equity, and freedom of expression by offering intellectually rigorous course work to individuals seeking an Associates of Arts degree or College Preparatory program. The sole eligibility requirement for participants is either a high school diploma or GED. Age, length of service, commitment offense, or time left to serve have no barring on admittance to the program. Additionally, students of Mount Tamalpais College pay nothing for textbooks, school supplies, fees or tuition. Support services is available to students in need, such as access to an on-site learning specialist, personalized advising, independent tutoring, and necessary accommodations and adaptive technologies for learning differences.
