National Center for Lesbian Rights

National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) is a non-profit, public interest law firm that litigates precedent-setting cases at the trial and appellate court levels; advocates for equitable public policies affecting the LGBTQ community; provides free legal assistance to LGBTQ people and their legal advocates; and conducts community education on LGBTQ issues. NCLR is committed to advancing the civil and human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and their families through litigation, legislation, policy, and public education. Their free legal assistance empowers individuals to assert their own legal rights and NCLR's community and public education broaden public support for LGBTQ equality. NCLR's Born Perfect is a Campaign to End Conversion Therapy by passing laws across the country to protect LGBTQ children and young people, fighting in courtrooms to ensure their safety, and raising awareness about the serious harms caused by these dangerous practices. NCLR also fights for the right of LGBTQ people to obtain housing and buy goods and services from businesses that are open to the public without fear of discrimination or harassment. NCLR works to remove barriers to LGBTQ people in accessing vital legal aid, and provides training and technical assistance to legal aid organizations to provide culturally-competent legal services to low-income LGBTQ clients.
