New Start Ministries, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving at-risk youth a new start in life. Founded in 2004 and located and working through the state of Alabama, they provide information and assistance to youth needing a connection to a local church for Christian mentorship. They believe mentorship helps to reduce recidivism up to 80%, so they equip their Christian church partners for ministry by qualifying and training volunteers to become penpals and mentors. Clients are expected to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior, continue growing in faith, turn away from crime and delinquency, and ultimately, not be recommitted to the Alabama Department of Youth Services.
