Norfolk CARES T.E.A.M.

Norfolk CARES T.E.A.M. (Transition forward, Engage more, Achieve independence, Move beyond) is an initiative led by the Norfolk Department of Human Services that uses the approach to integrate human services and public safety into the community. They provide assistance with finding employment or getting vocational training, assessment and referrals, Case management, job readiness classes, Job coaching, Resume development and Workshops to adults convicted of a recent or past misdemeanor or felony charge, any person between the age of 18-49 with no children on their SNAP case and no exemptions from work requirement (ABAWDS), youth or young adult transitioning out of foster care (17-24 years of age) or a non-custodial parent with a Department of Child Support Enforcement case with TANF debt. The Norfolk CARES Team's Norfolk Re-Entry Council focuses on the key barriers to successful reentry including Employment and Education, Financial Obligations and Resources, Housing, Physical and Mental Health/Substance Abuse and Social Reintegration.
