North Carolina Department of Public Safety (NCDPS) is a governmental organization, with a mission to safeguard and preserve the lives and property of the people of North Carolina through prevention, protection, and preparation with integrity and honor. DPS employees supervise incarcerated people in prison, in juvenile detention centers and in community supervision. The Community Resource Councils (CRC) are established by NCDPS for each prison facility in the NC corrections system. Each correctional institution is responsible for its individual CRC. The purpose of CRC in NCDPS prisons is to provide assistance in stimulating positive citizen and community involvement and promoting volunteerism at prison facilities throughout the State. CRC serves as a liasion between the correctional facility and the community by opening channels of communication and creating interest to produce positive citizen involvement and to assist incarcerated people in the process of reintegration as they return to the community. NCDPS serves about 55 correctional institutions in NC. If you need assistance with those institutions please go through the list of institutions on the website provided.
