OAR of Arlington

Section Title

OAR of Arlington

OAR is a community-based nonprofit which provides a safe and thriving community where those impacted by the legal system enjoy equal civil and human rights. They offer alternative sentencing options through community service to youth and adults to avoid the trauma of incarceration and instead remain a part of helping the community thrive. In addition, OAR provides reentry services, including transition assistance and employment counseling to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals. The OAR Reentry Services Department serves individuals incarcerated at the Arlington County Detention Facility, the Alexandria Detention Center, and Coffeewood Correctional Center. They offer assistance with emergency shelter, transportation, clothing, food, identification, medication, mental health, medical care, and social service referrals. In addition, the OAR Community Service Department serves individuals who are court-ordered to complete community service through the Arlington County or City of Falls Church Courts, individuals who a Judge has approved to meet community service instead of paying their court costs and individuals whose attorney refers to complete community service pre-trial. OAR also supervises juveniles and adults in their community service work. To know more about OAR and its services, please contact them directly.
