The office of the Chief Inspector of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction monitors the Ohio corrections system. Staff review the procedure for filing grievances during incarceration and ensures that all concerns from incarcerated people are correctly addressed. The office consists of several divisions, each one tasked with a specific element of maintaining accountability within the corrections system. The Inspector Support Division is in charge of responding to grievances and appeals from incarcerated individuals. The Investigations Services Division monitors and guides the investigation of grievances and coordinates with any outside agencies as necessary. The Intelligence Division continually collects data and information, processes forensic evidence and conducts background checks for all individuals entering correctional facilities. Security Threat Groups actively track high risk individuals incarcerated within Ohio corrections facilities and assists with the use of canine units inside prisons.
