Pittsburgh Community Services, Inc. has been the official Community Action Agency for the city of Pittsburgh for nearly forty years. As an anti-poverty agency, the organization works to provide both direct services and advocacy for more equitable, just policies that serve all members of the greater Pittsburgh community. Their mission is to bridge the gaps that contribute to generational poverty and redirect participants toward a path of self sufficiency. Many of their programs include targeted supports for formerly incarcerated individuals, as staff understand the connection between criminal conviction and poverty. The Pittsburgh Pardon Hub is tasked with assisting individuals who face barriers to entering the workforce as a result of their involvement with the justice system, including Clean Slate, Expungement and Pardon programs depending on the specific situation for each individual. Staff are also equipped to connect individuals with housing opportunities when they demonstrate difficulty securing safe, stable housing as a result of incarceration or financial instability.
