San Diego County Conviction and Sentencing Review Unit

Section Title

San Diego County Conviction and Sentencing Review Unit

The San Diego County Conviction and Sentencing Review Unit is a subdivision of the San Diego County District Attorney's Office. The mission of the division is to ensure that the District Attorney's office carries out justice in all cases. Staff investigate claims of innocence that are supported by credible evidence not presented during the initial trial, or evidence that can be tested using technology not available at the time. In addition, the unit considers cases in which sentencing is excessive based on the charges presented. For those individuals who are released after thorough investigation, the San Diego County Conviction and Sentencing Review Unit partners with community support organizations to assist with reintegration and reclaiming constitutional freedoms like voting rights. The office is only able to investigate cases where the conviction occurred in the San Diego County Superior Court. For more information about the specific work of the Conviction and Sentencing Unit, contact the organization directly or through an attorney.
