StepUp Durham is a community based organization committed to providing vocational services to individuals in need. Their mission is to provide job development training, individualized job coaching, referrals to local employers and support services for individuals as they enter the workforce. These services are available to clients at no cost, as StepUp Durham believes strongly that stable employment is an essential part of overcoming barriers that affect housing security and increase the risk of recidivism. The organization offers vocational skills and development options for both adults and young people. The Step1 Employment Program provides assistance to justice involved individuals who face barriers to entering the workforce due to criminal convictions. All participants receive as much support as possible, but the program is 50/50 and individuals are required to invest their time and energy into developing the necessary skills to maintain employment.
