Description

The InsideOUT is a program offered by Stonewall Columbus, a community based organization providing access to information and resources that address the needs of the LGBTQ community. The InsideOUT program is designed for incarcerated LGBTQ people inside local correctional facilities and LGBTQ formerly incarcerated individuals that are reentering the society. The program offers support and resources to connect them with their local community and peers. Part of the program includes visits to correctional facilities by Stonewall Columbus staff along with other local LGBTQ organizations. These visits are meant to encourage dialogue and unity amongst LGBTQ incarcerated people and to facilitate interaction and understanding between the incarcerated LGBTQ population and prison officials and administrators. Through various social programs, therapeutic and peer-driven support groups, counseling services and more, Stonewall Columbus works with many local businesses and organizations to provide referrals for employment and other needs of the LGBTQ people coming out of prison.
