Section Title

Supervision to Aid Reentry – Reentry Court

Supervision to Aid Reentry - Reentry court is a division of the United States Probation Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The Reentry Court acts as a federal program which provides supervision and facilitates reentry requirements for individuals released into the Philadelphia community. Individuals in the program report to a magistrate judge at regularly scheduled intervals to report on their progress toward permanent reentry. These individuals also receive careful attention and supervision from their assigned probation officer. This officer is tasked with assisting individuals with access to educational programs, transitional housing and treatment centers during the reentry process. Eligible individuals are those who pose a significant risk for recidivism and/or have a documented history of violent crime. The purpose of the program is to assist these individuals and provide support systems that help ensure they do not pose a threat to the community. The hope is that structured support and regularly check-ins promote a culture of success and help disrupt the cycle of recidivism for at-risk individuals.
